Kids, parents, and grandparents are welcome to explore art and nature and participate in our first outdoor classroom activity!
First, our friends from Arundel Rivers Federation will lead us in learning about oysters, oyster habitats and their decline, and how storm water management at home can help.
Then, after lunch, we'll use what we've learned as inspiration for our art project. An artist from the Arts Lab of South County will guide us in our painting projects. Adults will paint rain barrels to take home and kids will paint tree stumps with scenes of Chesapeake Bay creatures and plants. The tree stumps will become the seats for our new outdoor classroom!
If you'd like to participate but don't need the rain barrel, that's great, too! Three (3) rain barrels will stay on CAM's property, and we'd love help painting those as well. Just make the selection to donate the barrel on the registration page. Space is limited---we have enough rain barrels for 8 families to each take one home; 3 barrels will stay onsite at CAM.
Sunday, October 1st. Each day runs 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. Wear clothes you don't mind getting messy and bring a bagged lunch.
This program is made possible by a grant from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County.
