BLOODROOT by Daniel V. Meier. He served in the United States Navy and has worked as a teacher, journalist, flight instructor and aviation safety inspector. He is also the author of 'Dung Beetles' and it's sequel, 'Blood Before Dawn'. 'Bloodroot' is a gripping account of survival in America's earliest settlement, Jamestown, Virginia.

FEBRUARY 2 Black Watermen of the Chesapeake - Vincent Leggett

Vincent Leggett is the President and CEO of the Leggett Group USA, an Annapolis-based consulting firm specializing in Government Relations, Public Affairs, and Advocacy. Vince holds a B.S. and M.A. in Public Administration. Vincent will talk about his work in historic preservation with the Columbia Beach community of Shady Side.

FEBRUARY 9 The Story of the Making of the first U.S. Flag - Marjorie Riordan

Marjie Riordan is an engaging speaker and historian. Mary Young Pickersgill produced the gigantic Star Spangled Banner, our defining icon. But most of her life was spent training women to find work as seamstresses. She also was instrumental in establishing the first home for the aged in Baltimore. Her city remembers her for her humanitarian service to the needy.

FEBRUARY 16 ‘Where Tour Buses Won’t Go’ - Dr. Jay Anderson, Author

Jay Anderson, author, artist, and educator, holds a Ph.D. in  Language, Literacy, and Socio-cultural Studies. He will be speaking about adventures from his recent book, 'Where Tour Buses Won't Go' and recount his extreme travels in India / Jammu-Kashmir - with tales of back-alley intrigue, colorful pageantry and tiger country.  Jay continues his signature-style, cultural investigation as 'The Other'.

FEBRUARY 23 Ospreys of the Patuxent - Greg Kearns, Park Naturalist

 Greg Kearns, a Park Naturalist at Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission at Patuxent River Park, and graduate of St. Mary’s College of MD, is an accomplished photographer, worldwide traveler, leader of eco-tours, expert birder and renowned authority on Ospreys. Join us to learn about Ospreys, the often-seen “fish hawk” of local rivers and the Chesapeake Bay. Greg promises “You will be on the edge of your seat as you learn more about this unique species of raptor.”

MARCH 2 ‘Stewards of West River’ Dean Hall, Author

Dean Hall, author of Stewards of West River and owner of Norman’s Retreat (home of Steward’s 18th century shipyard), will tell the stories of the Steward family during the American Revolution, and how this Maryland family impacted the nation.
